We are living in a world of mass production, almost everything comes off a rack or a shelf full of items exactly the same as each other. More often than not they are produced in the thousands or millions by a factory somewhere in Asia, often under questionable conditions. I live on the north coast of New South Wales in a town called Lismore, situated halfway between Nimbin and Byron Bay, this is where my clothing is made, and as my business expands i want to keep it made here, in Australia.
My aim is to provide an ethical alternative with an artistic bent to it, the clothing is made to be as durable, functional, practical, magical, wearable, beautiful, sexy, and damn funky as possible! At present everything is designed and hand tailored by me (punkin) to fit my customers measurements, each piece of clothing is unique in size, design and fabric.
Quality is very important to me, naturally i want my clothes to last as long as possible, I use fabrics of high quality which i find aesthetically pleasing and locally sourced vintage fabrics, although i am happy to use most fabrics as requested. I can source hemp, or organic fabrics, however, as the cost of these fabrics is so high, and as my work is so detailed, the labour involved is time consuming, the end price is much higher.
I offer my clients variations of past designs, or the chance to create something totally unique in their tastes, as long as it keeps within my aesthetics. This is my art, people come to me when they want clothing which reflects my style, this is as much about sculpture for me as it is about tailoring. I do not see myself as part of the fashion trade, as i do not aim to create garments which adhere to current trends, the clothing i make, i make for myself, to suit my tastes, if this works for you then you'll enjoy wearing my gear, enough of my wank...
